Local NPR affiliate KUAF’s daily show, Ozarks at Large, features news about the people, places, and events of the Ozarks and the Arkansas River Valley. This week, the Garden has been featured twice. We were excited to hear Becca Martin Brown talk on January 17th about the artist Linda Williams Palmer’s artistic renderings of Arkansas Champion Trees. BGO is hosting several of these art works and the exhibit will be open from January 17 to February 9, 2013. Listen to Brown’s update on the exhibit and then join us at BGO to see the exhibit for yourself!
The Greenhouse at the Garden
On January 16th, Robert Ginsburg reports on what happens at the Garden during our “off season.” Ginsburg interviews our Operations Director, Dr. Gerald Klingaman, who talks about the bridge over the coming built wetlands and the boardwalk along the stream side trail under construction, and renovation of our new Education Cottage. The Cottage was the first timber frame building on the property and has been used as a storage building until last summer when it was converted to an education space for the thousands of visitors who come to the Garden for our education programs and workshops. Garden staff experts Susan Regan, Lissa Morrison, and Holly Shields then talk about the preparation for planting and the work done over the winter in the greenhouse. Our chickens and wind chimes even make brief audio appearances!
