From March 1 through 3, the Totemeier Event Hall of the Botanical Garden will be transformed into an exotic, tropical showcase. The annual Orchids in the Garden Show and Sale, sponsored by the Orchid Society of the Ozarks and the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, will open with a reception on Friday, March 1 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and continue with the show and sale on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for the reception are $10 each and includes drinks and light refreshments. Admission on both Saturday and Sunday is $5.00. Tickets are available for purchase online for the reception, show and sale. (Tickets for the show and sale are also available at the door.)
The elaborate displays will be judged by officials from the American Orchid Society. Visitors at the reception and over the weekend will get to see the outcome of the judging and the spectacular arrangements of orchids as well as purchase orchids that the local society has for sale.
On both Saturday and Sunday, visitors may attend mini-classes offered by society members. Class times and topics will be announced in the February BGO bulletins. Classes are included in the price of admission.
Last year’s show and sale was well attended and orchids sold quickly. The Orchid Show and Sale is a colorful, educational event on the drab winter calendar, so make plans to attend and enjoy the beauty and variety of orchids.
